The Washington Youth Soccer Regional Club League (RCL), the top youth soccer league in Washington, has accepted Sting Timbers FC of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho as a provisional member for the 2018-2019 season.

“Washington Youth Soccer is excited to welcome Sting Timbers to the RCL.  As the preeminent and fastest growing competitive league in Washington, the RCL gives players and clubs the opportunity to grow competitively and, through successful play, extend to the highest levels of national competition through the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series,” said WA Youth Soccer President Dan Popp.

“Sting Timbers FC is a model club to join the RCL as it is well recognized in Northern Idaho for creating a positive atmosphere for players to develop their soccer skills as well as off-field character.  We look forward serving the Sting Timbers FC organization and for them to become a long-term partner club in the RCL.”

To be named a Regional Club, clubs must adhere to the Regional Club League Charter, which outlines rigorous standards including criteria and levels of coaching licensure, player development curriculum and training guidelines to ensure standardizations across the league and that all clubs are of equivalent caliber.

“As we continue our mission to provide our area with the highest level of youth soccer, Sting Timbers FC is incredibly proud to enter the Regional Club League.  The competition and programming provided by the RCL will benefit players of all abilities and we are excited to take the next step as a club,” said Sting Timbers FC Director Mike Thompson.  “STFC would like to thank Washington Youth Soccer, Idaho Youth Soccer, and all of the member clubs of the RCL for the chance to compete at the highest level.”

WA Youth Soccer worked with Idaho Youth Soccer in order to help provide Sting players with the best playing and development opportunities.

“IYSA continues to strive to provide the best level of competition that it can for its members. This collaboration with Washington Youth Soccer is just another example of that,” said Idaho Youth Soccer Executive Director Craig Warner.

“Over recent years Sting Timbers FC have worked extremely hard to grow their club and elevate their game within the state, and their acceptance into the RCL will allow them to continue along this trajectory. The RCL is rich in tradition and success, we are excited for the opportunities Sting Timbers FC will have through their participation in this league.”
