Region IV TOPS Symposium held in Washington

Earlier this month, Washington Youth Soccer and Alaska Youth Soccer hosted the US Youth Soccer Region IV TOPSoccer Symposium. The Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPSoccer) is our program for players 4 years of age and older who have developmental and/or physical disabilities. The program is based on skill level, not age, and participants include players, coaches and buddies – volunteers who are paired with each player to assist with the game.

TOPSoccer Q&A: Ed DeMulder talks about being a TOPSoccer Coach

Ed DeMulder was named the 2015 US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer Coach of the Year. He started the Essex, Vt., TOPSoccer program nine years ago with a handful of volunteers, about 20 players and 30 buddies. He travels to local high schools to promote TOPSoccer, speaks to players and explains the commitment of the program — which has led to having students on waiting lists hoping to become a buddy. The program now features 50 players and 90 buddies.

Washington Youth Soccer Celebrates 50 Years

Washington Youth Soccer will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2016, marking a half-century of fostering the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of the state’s youth through the sport of soccer at all levels of age and competition. Throughout the year, Washington Youth Soccer will host numerous soccer celebrations across the state, culminating with the 50 Year Anniversary Gala on Sept. 9, 2016.
