2014-2015 Washington Youth Soccer EPD tryout registration now open

Players interested in participating in the Washington Youth Soccer Elite Player Development (EPD) program can now register for open tryouts for the 2014-2015 season. In a continued effort to search out the top talent from throughout the state, tryouts will be held at five locations around Washington, with players being encouraged to attend at least two of the three available sessions in their area. Registration for open tryouts should be completed by Friday, August 8.

May EPD Camp Concludes

The Washington Youth Soccer Elite Player Development (EPD) program held its first camp for the 2002 and 2003 boys and girls birth years this past weekend at Northwest Soccer Park in Bellingham. The camp brought together the top 02 and 03 players from around the state for training and games with Washington Youth Soccer EPD staff and guest coaches.

Elite Player Development Girls Invited to Prestigious National Camp

Over the past several years, U.S. Soccer Development Director Jill Ellis noticed a trend — more than 50 percent of the Youth National Team players were coming from Region IV, the far western region of US Youth Soccer that includes Washington Youth Soccer and 13 other state associations. Specifically, Ellis noted the high numbers of Washington players that were coming to the National Team training camps from outside the traditional leagues and pathways used to identify players.

The All-Tournament teams have been announced from the US Youth Soccer Region IV Olympic Development Program (ODP) Championships. Washington Youth Soccer Elite Player Development (EPD) teams in the 1997-2001 age groups competed at the Region IV ODP Championships Jan. 9-12 at Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix.

In January, U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann picked up his phone and dialed Sounders FC defender DeAndre Yedlin and Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall to offer them a seat on the plane to Brazil for two weeks of training with the USMNT in advance of a Feb. 1 friendly against South Korea.
