The schedule has been announced for the opening weekend of the 2014-15 US Youth Soccer National League season, as the Girls gather Nov. 20-23 in Wilson, N.C. National League Boys will kick off three weeks later, Dec. 11-14. Managing Osgood-Schlatter

A common overuse syndrome in young soccer players is Osgood Slaughters. The symptoms are pain and often some swelling about two inches below the kneecap in the front of the knee. The patellar tendon attaches here on a bump of bone called an apophysis. Irritation of this attachment site and the apophysis can occur with repetitive running and jumping activities. It's no surprise, then, that adolescent soccer players suffer from this problem.

EPD Camp Leads To National Team Call-Up for Washington's Sakura Yoshida

Players interested in participating in the Washington Youth Soccer Elite Player Development (EPD) program can now register for open tryouts for the 2014-2015 season. In a continued effort to search out the top talent from throughout the state, tryouts will be held at five locations around Washington, with players being encouraged to attend at least two of the three available sessions in their area. Registration for open tryouts should be completed by Friday, August 8.

Three Sounders Called in to USA U-23 in Seattle

Six of the 10 Washington teams competing at the 2014 US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup have advanced to the quarterfinal stage after three preliminary games. One team, Under-16 Girls Washington Timbers 97 Green, played their quarterfinal match on Friday in which they defeated Cal-South to move on to the semifinals. Washington Youth Soccer EPD teams kickoff 2014 Region IV ODP Championships

Washington Youth Soccer Elite Player Development (EPD) teams began their quest to claim the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region IV Championship today at Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz. Boys and Girls state teams in the 1997-2001 age groups are playing for the ODP Regional title, and winners of the 1997 and 1998 age groups are also competing for the opportunity to advance to the US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships in March in Frisco, Texas.

Soccer for Success program wraps up third season

For the past two years, Washington Youth Soccer has received a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service’s Social Innovation Fund, through the U.S. Soccer Foundation, to operate the Soccer for Success program. The initiative uses soccer as a tool to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles for children in under-resourced urban communities.

Inaugural League Champions Cup reunites Washington and British Columbia soccer

13 League Champions Cup Results Slide 12-17-13
Champions from the Washington Youth Soccer Regional Club League (RCL) and B.C. Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) met at Woodinville Sports Park in Woodinville, Wash. Dec. 14-15 to compete for the first League Champions Cup, the latest soccer exchange program between Washington and B.C. Champions in the Under-13 through Under-16 Boys and Girls age groups played head-to-head, and the league with the most aggregate victories would claim the trophy and bragging rights for the year.

After receiving numerous worthy submissions, US Youth Soccer has narrowed the field down to 10 Goal of the Year and 10 Save of the Year official nominees. The soccer community now has the chance to determine the 2013 winners in each category through an online voting process at USYouthSoccer.org beginning on January 6 and ending on January 13 at 12 p.m. CT.
