"Alfie Bensinger is the sort of volunteer that every club wishes they had. He is the Club President, assigns the referees, works as a referee at the club and high school level, has personally run the spring U6-U8 Academy program, has become a referee instructor this year to ensure we had local trainers available for our entry-level clinics, somehow found time to coach a BU11 team, too, and most recently was one of our Rec Cup site tournament directors. His easy, kind manner allows him to work with all types of people and leaves the impression that he was glad to talk with you and he can't wait to see you again soon. He is a vital component of HYSC's current successful operations and a local icon of soccer here in Grays Harbor." – Travis Hoppe
"Marc Church epitomizes the WA Youth Soccer volunteer spirit, freely and generously giving his time and talents to foster the best possible soccer experience for our members and making a positive difference in the lives of others. In addition to his exemplary service as volunteer coach, Marc serves our soccer families with absolute excellence as a member of the West Seattle Soccer Club’s Administrative Board. Simply cataloging the countless hours Marc has invested in the performance of these roles should be sufficient to merit recognition, but there are 100 other ways he serves and promotes the game that distinguish Marc from other worthy candidates. Chief among these is the relentless and infectious enthusiasm Marc exudes at ALL times.
Marc is always looking for ways to help (before you need to ask) and strives to leave things better than he found them. Marc is the volunteer that arrives early to set up the team canopy or the chairs before the meeting, then stays late to collect left behind items and pick up litter. Marc is the volunteer that carries your gear to and from the field. He welcomes every player with a smile and introduces himself to the families of the opposing team. Marc is the volunteer that thanks and supports our referees, and who quiets a critical sideline. Mark notices and praises the selfless assist and the smallest acts of kindness or good sportsmanship. He always encourages, edifies and inspires others. Marc is a role model, an ambassador, and a cherished friend." - Bill Fry
"Novella is a phenomenal registrar, communicator, and organizer. She volunteers as the FWSA registrar which has grown into holding all the registrar positions in the Association. She sends out regular emails on everything that affects teams. She reviews the week in review and emails from all things soccer to put key points into a summary email. Novella handles start cup/rec cup/league registration, and meetings of the District/Association/Club. When she is out of town on business or with her family, she explains what she needs, when and how she will be responding to emails and phone calls, and who to contact for questions or help with specific topics. She is aware of tournament rules and has done a fantastic job of protecting coaches from making mistakes in rosters or entering the wrong cup, or use of the club pass for the Regional Club.
Her meeting organization and self driven desire to improve all things soccer for FWSA, Bonzi, and the state is greatly appreciated. She has taken on special purpose meetings for treasurer/manager meetings, set up registration nights and coordinated all the necessary people, technical equipment and support on site. Novella has stepped up and added District 3 Secretary to her long list of titles. Novella has improved the registration processes, tools, awareness, and experience for all that sign up for youth soccer." - Perry Woodford
"Amy volunteers at FC Alliance as an executive board member and full board member. Twice a month she attends club meetings. Aside from the hours doing this job, she is also the team manager for two teams. She has been the manager of the U14 boys team for five years and her first with the U10 Boys. She has been a tremendous help for the club and individual teams, and demonstrates great leadership to other parents. Furthermore, she has financially supported our club scholarship program through various contributions and also donated gear to other kids in the club with limited resources. Aside from the volunteer hours she puts in, she also has a full time job. It’s amazing at how she is able to manage all this with the small window of time she has." – Hugo Alcaraz
"Eden is currently the team manager for 5 different teams at NW Nationals, and also assists another manager with the game scheduling for a 6th team. She has a child on only one of those 5 teams, so it is a huge undertaking. Because these teams all share the same coach, she volunteered to manage all of them as a way to help keep the coach organized and manage his busy schedule. You can imagine how difficult it is to schedule practices and games for 6 teams, and the conflicts that arise on the weekends. It has been a huge challenge, but she has taken on this monstrous task. As the club's scheduler and administrator I have been so thankful to have her in this role, as it allows me to work with one single point person for that coach. She has worked very hard on the fall schedule resulting in very few conflicts for the coach. Her efforts benefit so many players and families, who as a result of her hard work get to have their own coach at almost all of their games and practices. She does a great job of communicating with the families and the opposing team managers. All team managers are amazing and give so much of their time, but Eden has gone above and beyond and her commitment has really made a difference at NW Nationals." – Cathy Jackson
"Dawn Bolin does so much...and has the unique ability to make you feel like your needs are her number one priority. Recently, at our EFC Annual Celebration, Dawn was presented the Legends Award for her outstanding contributions to the club. EFC Tim Bauman states, ‘If you believe that successful soccer clubs are dependent on volunteers, then you have met Dawn Bolin. She has worked tirelessly at Eastside FC in roles from Team Manager to serving as our Club’s uniform coordinator. She also manages our tryout registration and the actual tryouts. We were pleased to present Dawn our Eastside FC Legends Award at our Celebration Day several weeks ago...she is a one of a kind volunteer!’ EFC Coach Jack Butler says, ‘Dawn is an incredible team manager and she goes above and beyond on a regular basis." – – Dan Bubar
“Perry Woodford is an outstanding volunteer who volunteers countless hours to youth soccer at every level. In my past 3 years at Washington Youth Soccer, Perry has volunteered at every single state cup weekend and is always willing to do anything that is needed. Perry also serves on the Soccer Operations Committee and is very active in his local soccer community in Federal Way. We are very lucky to have a volunteer like Perry involved in our organization.’” – Matt Moran
“She does an outstanding job as our registrar along with tryouts, academies, TPC meetings, player accounts, and much more.’” – Seth Spidahl
"Dawn has been the behind the scenes magic maker for District 7 for many years. Her ability to fill gaps in other roles keeps our District looking like a real professional outfit. Each year she has spent considerable time to get "Of the Year" nominations collected and endorsed in support of local volunteer recognition. Quietly she captures the most comprehensive details of our meetings which promotes more effective communication. We should all be so lucky to have a masterful volunteer like Dawn."
"Dave Painton is a longtime soccer volunteer and a great steward of the game. He has held many positions at every level of the game, and continues to volunteer countless hours. Dave became a WA Youth Soccer Life Member in 1997 and was inducted into the WA Youth Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008. We are very fortunate to have a volunteer like Dave who continues to make an impact on everyone he meets."
“Coach Dean has coached many players and has been an inspiring and dedicated team-player coach! Each player has always learned that soccer is fun! And having fun makes great soccer players! He is a one of a kind coach here in Kitsap county.”
– Robin Bradbury
“Tammie is such a wonderful advocate for all young people with developmental disabilities. She has shown this time and time again by making each player feel like they are valued greatly and helping parents feel comfortable about their child trying something new and sometimes a little overwhelming. She has been our Administrator for many years and takes on all aspects of making this soccer team run smoothly. She deals with every situation that comes up during the soccer season and off season regarding details like helping to figure out strategies that work best for each player to be successful, making sure there are the best coaches on the field, ordering trophies and planning end of season events, bringing in "typical" teams to play our teams, reserving the field, lining the field, registration and so much more. She really does go above and beyond the call in every aspect. But most of all, her heart is for helping young individuals with disabilities not get left out of being part of a team and having fun. Simply put, she is amazing! The team would not be what it is today if not for all of the countless hours she has volunteered to make this program a win-win for the players and all of the community.”

Louie volunteers countless hours as the President of Northwest Sound Youth Soccer Association, attending multiple meetings and continuing to help make soccer a fun and enjoyable experience for all. He also volunteers at the WA Youth Soccer Recreational Cup, helping to create a great atmosphere for all of the players at this event.
Sara is incredibly dedicated to the kids of our community, and has shown this consistently by coordinating our Soccer for Success program at the school where she teaches. Aside from being busy teaching Physical Education, and getting her Master’s in her spare time, she always makes time to organize and assist the program, even coming out to coach on numerous occasions. We are lucky to have her!
