Director of Coaching at Maple Valley Soccer Association

 
 


Maple Valley Soccer Association’s goal is to provide soccer opportunities for kids of all ages and provide avenues for players to progress to the highest level of soccer in the State of Washington. MpVSA serves both Recreational and Premier soccer players in the Pierce and King County areas and currently participates in the RCL. The club was founded nearly 45 years ago and has grown to over 1,000 participants.  MpVSA has players registered in a variety of programs –

  1. Premier: Discovery (U4-U7), Jr. RCL Academy (U8-U9), Youth (U8-U12) and High School/College Prep (U13-19).
  2. Recreational: (U8-U18).
     

Maple Valley Soccer Association will be issuing a new contract for a Director of Coaching in January 2019.

 

Director of Coaching Position Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Coaching (DOC) will direct and supervise the MpVSA’s Premier coaching staff and is ultimately responsible for meeting the Club’s overall objective relative to coach, player and team development.

Qualifications

Licensure: National “A” License.

Playing Experience: College or Professional  

Coaching Experience: DOC experience or Technical Director experience preferred-or- professional or 4-year college Head Coaching experience

Required Skills: • Communication and dispute resolution skills. • Organizational and time management skills • Ability to relate to and motivate players and coaches • Proven computer skills, including ability to use word processing, spreadsheets, registration and website management programs • Possess integrity and follow ethically sound standards • Committed to working a non-traditional work schedule • Ability to show evidence of creating and implementing a vision/curriculum/programming for the future direction of teams/club• Ability to work within the guidelines of MpVSA’s by-laws. • Identify and recruit new coaches into both the Premier and Recreational Programs. • Oversee and supervise all MpVSA’s player development initiatives by working with coaches, Program Directors and Coordinators. • Work closely with Technical Director/Program Directors; supervise curriculum and session lesson plans to enhance player development for all levels. • Act as the Maple Valley Premier liaison on issues that may affect the Club, including representing the Club at any functions, meetings, events or as directed by the BOD. • Coordinate Recreational coaching development, including organizing and implementing coaching clinics for coaches of all Recreational levels (Discovery, Jr. Academy, Premier, Rec). • Organize and supervise Premier tryouts/Provide a comprehensive Tryout Implementation Plan to the Board appointed Coaching Committee one month before the scheduled tryouts. • Provide a comprehensive monthly Director of Coaching report to the BOD and Attend all normally schedules Board meetings. • Assist coaches with resolving any/all parent and/or player disputes on any/all teams. • Assess teams and advocate for them to be properly placed at the appropriate Recreational, District and/or RCL league level. • Review/recommend and approve tournament selections to ensure proper team and player development. • Conduct and implement coach’s meetings • Identify and advocate for the most talented players in MpVSA’s Premier program and encourage them to try-out for ENCL or EPD teams. • Provide other services as necessary and directed by the BOD.

Compensation: Annual compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications
