FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (March 5, 2014) – The All-Tournament teams have been announced from the US Youth Soccer Region IV Olympic Development Program (ODP) Championships.  Washington Youth Soccer Elite Player Development (EPD) teams in the 1997-2001 age groups competed at the Region IV ODP Championships Jan. 9-12 at Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix.

At the Region IV ODP Championships, four Washington Youth Soccer EPD teams advanced to championship matches, more than any other state except for California South, which not only played in every final but took home all 10 titles.  Three Washington teams also advanced to third place matches.

“What a fantastic event and our players did not disappoint,” commented Washington Youth Soccer Director of Coaching Education Shannon Murray after the regional event.  “Everyone should be proud of how our players conducted themselves not only on the field, but how they brought a high level of professionalism and pride to everything they did off the field as well.  Seven of our 10 Washington EPD teams got to the semifinals and four teams played in the final.  From a results standpoint, we are thrilled with how the kids performed.”

Regional champions in the 1997 and 1998 Boys and Girls age groups advanced to the US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships last weekend, where Cal-South claimed all four National ODP titles.

Individual players from the Region IV ODP Championships were honored last week with the release of the All-Tournament team.  Ten boys and eight girls from Washington EPD teams were named to All-Tournament teams in their age groups.  For the complete lists, click here.
